Macaloney's brews craft beer on site at 761 Enterprise Crescent in Saanich, in the same building as the whisky distillery. The brewery opened as Twa Dogs Brewery, named for the Robert Burns poem, and now brews under the Macaloney's name. Same brewhouse, same taps, same room at the Distillery Bar.

What's on tap

The core beers are brewed year round, with small batch seasonals rotating through.

• Pilsner, 5% ABV. An unfiltered pilsner with depth and body, made with Pacifica and Motueka hops. Bold and characterful rather than delicate.
• Pale Ale, 4.9% ABV. A West Coast BC style pale ale pairing crystal malt with German Hallertau Blanc hops. Malt balance with lemongrass, tropical and citrus notes.
• Lager, 4.5% ABV. Crisp, fresh and sessionable, brewed with Mexican lager yeast. Good with a wedge of lime.
• Kölsch, 5% ABV. A crisp German style kölsch brewed with a touch of local honey for a soft floral sweetness.
• Amber Ale, 5.2% ABV, limited release. A classic English style amber ale brewed in small batches.
• Red Ale, 5.1% ABV, limited release. Smooth caramel malts with a hint of cherry tartness, a bridge between autumn and winter.
• Macaloney's Seltzer, 5% ABV. Small batch, simple and bright.

At the Distillery Bar

Every beer is poured at the Distillery Bar, Wednesday to Sunday, 12 PM to 9 PM. A pint is $6, a sleeve is $4, and a beer flight of four is $7. The Boilermaker, a pint and a dram of your choice, is $12. The kitchen does warm local pretzels, Stillhouse wings, Whisky Works nachos and cask aged crispy fries. The main room seats 75, the patio seats 75, there is free parking for 20, and the distillery is dog friendly.

Twa Dogs, then and now

If you knew us as Twa Dogs Brewery, you are in the right place. Twa Dogs was the beer side of the distillery from the early days, brewed in this building by this team. Today the whole business runs under one name, Macaloney's Distillery and Brewery, so the beer now carries the Macaloney's mark. Nothing about the brewing changed. If you loved a Twa Dogs beer, ask at the bar, most of the recipes are still in rotation.

Beer and whisky under one roof

Macaloney's is one of the few places in Canada where single malt whisky and craft beer are made side by side. Both start with malted barley, and the brewers and distillers share a building, a bar and a barley obsession. Pete's Tour walks you from the grain and the peat to the copper pot stills and finishes at the bar with three whisky tastings and a complimentary pint.
