We laid this cask down seven years ago and promptly forgot about it in the darkest corner of the maturation room. While its friends were out getting bottled, this solitary butt was quietly turning into something weird, wonderful, and totally unexpected. Dive into a velvety hug of distant campfire smoke, sticky marmalade, and dark chocolate-roasted almonds, ending with an unapologetic sherry kick. Turns out, a little ghosting does a whisky good.
This perfect after-dinner dram has distant campfire, sandalwood incense, Sherry, dried fruits, and treacle toffee on the nose. The palate is rich and velvety, with lovely bonfire notes, sultanas, prunes, figs, and delicate sun-dried PX grape notes. These develop into cocoa powder, dark chocolate-roasted almonds, marmalade, warming wood spices, including cloves and nutmeg, and dark molasses. The finish is dry, with lingering Sherry wine, light smoke, and oak spices.
No colour added. Non-chill filtered.

Audit Failure is quite a good whiskey, however, not worth the price. One can buy a much better scotch from Scotland for $200.

It was great on the pallet with nice mouth feel. I had a bit of an issue with the nose in that I was picking up an anise seed note, maybe some heads or tails?? The ABV was spot on! I also really enjoyed the Peat Project bottle I had shipped in the same order! Soooo good and that peat note of campfire hit all the right spots!

Beautiful. Elegant. Mystical. A little water or ice opens this failure right up. Wonderful fall notes and spice. Deep warmth - lots going on in this one.

Audit Failure is very, very good indeed. Complex and interesting, it's a worthy first stepping stone for those who are just beginning to explore peated malts. Yet it also pleases the palate of those who love a full bodied sherry cask. Being one of the older Macaloney's expressions, Audit Failure also offers a foretaste of things to come ... great things I believe. I have been engaged with Macaloney's since its beginning and I'm excited to continue sipping as the barrels age and the distillery matures.
Awesome. Smooth rich and very enjoyable. Yes there is a peaty flavour but its not harsh like Lagavulin or other super peaty distillations.
